I often play songs from François Couture's albums Qallunak and Ludovica when I need a somber, earthy, urgent, fascinating song. It feels like Electronica, but it is not. Based in Quebec, Francois Couture combines guitar and percussion with Inuit singers to make a song that is quite unique.

I'm wondering how his email to me was generated, and if François Couture actually wrote it, or even saw my name. The email might just be a service of the record company. But somewhere down the line, someone had to find out my name and email address so they had to do a little bit of research on the web.

Whenever we airshifters do a show at WEFT, we are required to write down the name, artist, album, and record label of each song, so that these numbers can get reported back to the record company, accompanied by some amount of royalty payment. This is the first time I have ever gotten any kind of feedback from outside of WEFT for my playlist.

I first heard François Couture on the Francophiliacs show on WEFT.
